John's school based consultancy in both "struggling schools" and schools wanting to improve to "good" and "outstanding" often centres around

o Solihull School: Supporting leadership in a school in its removal from special measures: main focus on data and systems.
o Solihull School: Project support and monitoring role during the establishment of a sixth form, including an LSC funded new build.

Case Study: Local Authority Children's Services Procurement

In Walsall, John has supported the re-commissioning of the outsourced "education contract", the largest such outsourcing in Europe. The contract encompasses a wide range of children's services, for example, leadership, school improvement, supporting schools, supporting children, SEN, disability services, ICT, property, health and safety, HR, finance, and the wider links with youth and leisure. John's role as education consultant has involved:
o Consultation with schools, contractors, council officers and members, wider stakeholders
o Designing the structure for the outsourced specifications, though interpretation of local and national requirements
o Consulting upon and writing the output specification for the Invitation to Negotiate (ITN)
o Evaluating the technical aspects of tender submissions and the subsequent clarification processes
o Negotiation on the technical aspects of the contract including Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators
o Developing a contract management structure.
