Customised leadership, management, commissioning, training and school improvement support for local authorities, academies, schools and other providers from John Williams, an independent education consultant. John has sixteen years experience in senior leadership in three secondary schools, including seven years as a head teacher in schools in Sandwell and Birmingham. John has also worked as a school improvement adviser for Birmingham LA, supporting schools in Birmingham and Leeds, and as an accredited School Improvement Partner for Bath and North East Somerset and Walsall. In addition to leading the schools' improvements, John developed partnerships with other schools, community partners and post 16 providers to set up an inclusive, collaborative, support network. Successful Ofsted and HMI inspections noted John's vision and the strength of his leadership. As both LA adviser and independent consultant he has worked across LAs providing interim leadership, guidance and mentoring to schools in challenging circumstances or special measures over both short and extended periods of time, often coordinating and monitoring the intervention strategies for the school, and leading them through external scrutiny, for example by HMI. In Walsall, John has played a major role in the re-commissioning of the outsourced education contract, the largest such outsourcing in Europe. Through J L Williams Consultancy Limited (Formerly J L Williams Education), John provides support for planning and review processes; coaching for senior and middle leadership; expertise in curriculum organisation and planning, staffing, assessment and data usage, school organisation, school budget planning and monitoring, health and safety; and specific subject guidance for science. In addition he can provide both whole school and cross school professional development activities, as well as support for individual leaders at all levels.
